I started planning with EDV in the second half of my second semester of my freshman year, and it was EDV that got me out of a state of not knowing anything and having very clear goals for investment banking. First of all, I got a comprehensive understanding of what investment banks do, and after three sessions with my mentor, and with a good understanding of my personality, I determined that my goal was the IBD department of an investment bank after orientation. I started to work hard on networking throughout the second semester. It is said that everything is difficult at the beginning, but the good thing is that EDV's planning teachers not only provide technical guidance and sharing of human resources, but also keep encouraging me to enter the investment banking sector, which is a marathon and long-lasting battle, and I finally got good news at the end of the summer vacation of my freshman year. Finally, I got the good news in the summer after my freshman year, I got the VP of a boutique investment bank's referral and started my internship on campus. In my second year of college, I started to make a lot of submissions and did a lot of coffee chats, and finally got the BMO IBD SUMMER 2024 INTERN! Although the time I spent with EDV was only 2 years, all the results can completely prove their strength!
What I like about EDV is that they saved me when my academic performance was most on the verge of a crisis. It would be the summer of my freshman year, and I myself was interested in consulting and analytics positions, but I couldn't apply to the majors that I wanted to get into because of my gpa, and if I chose a different major, I would have to spend extra time preparing for the direction that I was going to take for my job search, and so I got into a very confusing state. After the first consultation with EDV, I was attracted to the long-term planning given by the teachers of EDV, which was really very well thought out, from the success rate to the timeline, and I was told many kinds of routes to enter the field of counseling, and the impact of each route on the future graduation, and the career path were all clearly explained! Also because I only know the consulting industry by name, and there is still a layer of paper separating me from the real industry, so I felt very informed after the first conversation! Of course on boarding EDV, but also in the summer vacation of freshman year in July directly began work study work! I've already taken the analytical position at HOOPP! Now I think the EDV teacher was right: choosing EDV is investing in your future!
I should be regarded as a junior within the EDV students, I am also very happy to join the EDV family, freshman year I came to Toronto from Shanghai in fact, at first it is not very adaptable, whether it is from the life or the rhythm of the university to speak, I was blindfolded state, as if at that time I was admitted to the university all of a sudden lost a goal, there are a lot of classmates in the classroom, but do not have to make a lot of friends. Because I played the business game when I was in high school in Shanghai, I got to know EDV in the process of joining the university club! In the teacher's introduction, I learned that the resources of the university can be utilized in such a way, and I was really happy to earn money while I was studying! From freshman year to now, I did a lot of activities in the summer vacation of freshman year, and finally in May, I got a DATA ANALYST position at LIANWEI, a major technology company in Shanghai! From the beginning of the uncomfortable to now full of confidence, thank you very much EDV this year to help me!
Choose EDV is actually very simple, with the teacher consulting with the feeling of sincerity, they will be very honest to help me analyze the market situation, the pros and cons of the future development, but also tell me how the job market situation in the recent period, will be very clear to tell me need to allocate the time in the submission of the post, the entire job search program will have a detailed pdf timeline, of course, I will also sometimes be lazy, the teacher will also urge me to! EDV's resources are also one of the aspects I trust! Before I tried to cold email others on Linkedln, but there was no response, but after EDV's mentor push, I coffee chatted with a lot of bigwigs, and in the process made my speaking become very skillful!
When I took the offer from Scotia Bank Wealth Management group, I felt that all the time and effort put in was worth it, and I am thankful to the entire EDV team for following along with me for the year. I am the kind of person who gets very nervous when I encounter important situations, and I can't sleep all night during the peak of the fall recruiting season. Therefore, both my master planner and my industry mentor were very helpful in helping me with Mock, patiently advising me before VI, and accompanying me with phone calls in the middle of the night when I was anxious. The road of job hunting is very lonely, see friends ashore is envious, from time to time worry about whether I can take a position, that period of time the mood ups and downs are quite big, to find a can let me stop my own mental internal friction of the mentor and friend is really important! How you handle your mindset throughout the job search season is critical! Thanks again to the teachers at EDV for not only getting me on board with an offer but also teaching me to play Texas well!
